Cleveland, OH — A Freeze Warning is in effect for portions of northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania as temperatures are forecast to tumble into the upper 20s to low 30s tonight.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued the warning from midnight through 8 a.m. Sunday for areas along and south of U.S. Route 30, including Mansfield, Canton, and Marion. Locations farther inland from Lake Erie will feel the sharpest chill, while lakeshore communities should stay a few degrees milder.

Most interior areas of northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania are expected to bottom out between 30°F and 33°F, with a few sheltered valleys briefly dipping into the upper 20s.

Residents should bring in or cover tender plants this evening to avoid frost damage. This is among the season’s first widespread freezes and may effectively end the growing season for many inland neighborhoods.

Sunday will feature mostly sunny skies and a gradual warmup, though another cool night is likely before temperatures moderate more noticeably early next week.
