George Claros, a Reno man, has been sentenced to life in prison with the chance of parole after 45 years for a series of crimes, including kidnapping and abusing a woman in downtown Reno.

Claros faces two counts of first-degree kidnapping, two counts of sexual assault, and one act of battery with the purpose to commit sexual assault.

The verdict was handed out in March following a trial that detailed the tragic events of November 2021. According to the inquiry, Claros approached a 52-year-old woman going down 4th Street, assaulted her, and sexually abused her several times.

Shortly after Claros freed him, the victim reported the attack to Reno police. The inquiry indicated that the woman was walking to Diamond’s Casino when Claros approached her in his truck and demanded she get in. Instead of taking her to the casino, he took her to a dirt lot, restricted her access, and demanded sex.

When the woman refused, Claros beat her repeatedly before taking her to an apartment complex’s underground parking garage, where he sexually attacked her several times. After being startled by noises in the garage, Claros brought the woman to his storage container on Telegraph Street, locked her inside, and resumed the assaults.

He let her off at Ferrari and Fourth Street several hours later, where she called a friend and reported the assault to the police.
