Nina Minnis picture 001Nina F. Minnis, age 87, of Gallipolis, died Tuesday afternoon July 1, 2014 at her residence. Born May 30, 1927 in Rio Grande. She was the daughter of the late William and Lillian Jackson Hurt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by 2 husbands, Mason Peck and Buford Minnis, by 3 sons, Mason Perry Peck Jr., William McKinley Peck and Aaron Alexander Peck, by 5 brothers, Floyd, Ilo, Wesley, John and Benjie Hurt, and by 3 sisters, Rosetta Mae Westbrook, Kathryn Peck and Minnie Doss.

Nina was a mother and homemaker. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

She is survived by,6 children, Minnie (Charles) Miller of Gallipolis, Charles (Diane) Peck of Bidwell, Cora (Bernard) Brown of Columbus, Mary Armstrong of Bidwell, Emma Johnson of Hawaii, and Joseph (Courtney) Peck of Gallipolis. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, a half sister, Judy Payne of Gallipolis, a daughter in law, Celia Peck of Gallipolis and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM. Monday July 7, 2014 at Providence Baptist church with Rev. Edward Buffington officiating. Burial will follow in Buck Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the Waugh-Halley-Wood funeral Home on Sunday from 6-8 PM. and at the church on Monday 1 hour prior to services.

Nina’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
