Obit CandleCharles Eugene Bostic, 74, of Gallipolis, went to be with the Lord, Monday, July 21, 2014 at his residence.

He was born February 11, 1940 in Patriot, Ohio, son of the late John and Gladys

Donnally Bostic. Charles married Catherineann Gelder Bostic in Steubenville, Ohio and she survives him. He graduated from Gallia Academy in 1958 and Columbus Business University in 1961. He was a bookkeeper and salesman for Bob Evans Farms for 6 years. Charles was the owner of Larry’s Wayside Furniture and Babyland. He retired from Cole, Layier and Trumble as a property appraiser.

He was past president of Retail Merchants several times and the Chamber of Commerce. Charles believed in community service. He took care of the food booths for the 4th of July for 12 years. He was responsible for raising the money for the Born to Skate Park. Charles also was responsible for getting the Santa Claus House in the park. He loved to fish and was a member of the Gallipolis Bass Club. He belonged to the Gallipolis Elks Club #107 and Morning Dawn Masonic Lodge #7. He was a member of the Stroke Survivor’s Support Group. He was recognized as a Hometown Hero and given a Charles Bostic Proclamation Day Certificate from the City of Gallipolis. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Catherineann Bostic of Gallipolis; a daughter, Charlene (Jerry) Wade of Gallipolis; a son, David Bostic of Albany; five grandchildren, Amber Nicole Bostic, Kevin Bostic, Crystal Wade Flint, Wendy Wade and Winston Wade; a great granddaughter, Riley Jane Bostic. He was so proud and loved all of his grandchildren and great granddaughter very much. Also surviving are two brothers, Rodger (Mary) Bostic of Gallipolis and Don Bostic of Plainsville, Illinois; a sister, Rose (John) Jarvis of Gallipolis; a sister-in-law, Sue Ann Bostic of Gallipolis; a brother-in-law, Charles Meadows of Gallipolis and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Meadows and a brother, Kenny Bostic.

Services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Willis Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Luoma of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Centenary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. with an Elks Service at 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Mark Bostic, Brett Bostic, Mike Bostic, Tom Meadows, Joe Bostic and John Bostic.
