OSHP investigating fatal crash in Athens County involving a postal vehicle

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Athens County, Ohio.

According to a statement from the OSHP, at 11:50 a.m. on Sept. 2, 2017, William W. McManis, 58, from Millfield, Ohio, was travelling eastbound in a United State Postal vehicle on Angell Road. McManis failed to negotiate a curve going off the right side of the roadway striking a ditch and an utility pole according to a statement from the OSHP. McManis, who was not wearing a safety belt, succumb to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Athens County Coroner.

Lodi Township Fire Department and Athens E.M.S. assisted with incident.
