Knights of Columbus Donates to Coats for Kids Program
POMEROY – For years Peoples Bank has been working to see area students are not left out in the cold by sponsoring a coat drive. The coats go to the area schools for children that simply need a coat.
The bank has had an ongoing drive at their location and has hosted luncheon events to help raise funds to purchase coats. They also have had a bin for coats to be dropped off by customers and others. Their efforts were given an extra boost with a donation from the local Knights of Columbus group.
The Monsignor John Joseph Jessing Council 1664 of the Knights of Columbus, has been involved with the Coats For Kids program, thru Peoples Bank, for the past several years. Peoples Bank distributes the coats to all of the local schools, grades K-6, including the Carleton school. Tina Rees, the Peoples Bank manager and program coordinator, said that they have distributed approximately 225 coats to kids this year alone. The Knights and Pomeroy Sacred Heart Church members, were able to provide 55, mostly new coats this year.
