Several Churches Cancel Services for Jan. 26
MEIGS COUNTY – As the temperatures drop tonight, snow continues, and slush will be refreezing, several churches in the area churches have opted to cancel services for tomorrow.
The following churches have cancelled their services for Sunday, January 26: Racine United Methodist; Morning Star United Methodist; Antiquity Baptist; Carmel-Sutton United Methodist; Heath United Methodist; Bethany United Methodist; Pentecostal Assembly of Racine (no a.m. or p.m. services); New Beginnings (no am service or Alive at 5); East Letart United Methodist; Rocksprings Charge United Methodist; Pomeroy and Chester; and Middleport Church of the Nazarene.
Additionally, there will be no morning services at Racine First Baptist, Zion Church of Christ and Long Bottom United Methodist. Bethel Worship Center had been scheduled to be open, but has now canceled services for Sunday.
Traditionally, Sacred Heart Catholic Church is open, with parishioners urged to use their best judgement in attending mass.
At the time of publishing, Meigs County was still under a Level 2 Snow Emergency according to Meigs County Sheriff, Keith Wood. According to the Sheriff’s Office a Level 2 means, “roadways have slush, ice, and snow on them. A Level 2 Snow Emergency is defined as only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. You can contact your employer to see if you should report to work. Motorists should use extreme caution.”
