Bill Johnson to visit Meigs County, Discuss Flood Insurance Rates

image001(2)MEIGS COUNTY – Bill Johnson will join Meigs County Commissioners and other local community leaders on April 17 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on a tour of businesses who have seen their flood insurance rates skyrocket. Updated Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) floodplain maps are forcing business owners to close their operations, or in the case of some homeowners, default on their home mortgages. Johnson recently voted for the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act of 2014, legislation which protects the solvency of the flood insurance program and protects homeowners and business owners from unreasonable rate increases. Among the businesses Johnson will visit and speak with include Porter’s Autoplex, Fox’s Pizza, and Weaving Stitches.

The stops in Pomeroy are part of Johnson’s three-county tour to highlight how flood insurance rates are having a drastic impact on local small businesses.

To join the tour, please meet at the Wild Horse Restaurant just prior to 12:30.
