The Major Crimes Task Force of Gallia-Meigs Take Down Meth Lab

On January 23, 2015 Deputies with the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office and Agents from the Major Crimes Task Force of Gallia-Meigs went to 40415 Gold Ridge Road Pomeroy to attempt to locate Shane Casteel (26 of Pomeroy) on outstanding warrants from Meigs and Athens Counties. Upon arrival deputies located Casteel as well as drugs, and drug paraphernalia in the residence, and a one pot methamphetamine lab outside the residence front door. A search warrant was then obtained for the property where 29 one pot methamphetamine labs, numerous narcotics and drug paraphernalia were located, as well was a stolen motorcycle out of Athens County.

Casteel is currently being held at the South Eastern Ohio Regional Jail on a failure to appear warrants out of Meigs County and will be facing numerous new charges including manufacturing methamphetamine, possessing chemicals to manufacture methamphetamine, and receiving stolen property.
