Homicide in Middleport, police seeking stolen victim’s vehicle

MIDDLEPORT – Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood has confirmed the Middleport death to now be a homicide investigation.

Sheriff Wood said the victim was discovered by Middleport Police Officers doing a “well being check” when Dale Miller, 74, was found dead in his home.

Wood also said the slaying of Miller happened about 24 hours prior to the discovery by officers. Miller was killed in his home according to the sheriff, but would not elaborate further until the coroner’s report.

A vehicle owned by the victim, a blue 1999 Ford Extended Cab Ranger with silver stripes like lightning was stolen and is believed to be with the suspect. It may have been sighted in Gallia County according to Sheriff Wood. The Ohio license plate is FRS9966.

Anyone with information or seeing the truck should contact local law enforcement and not attempt to approach the suspect.
