Holzer recognizes EMS week

Personnel from Holzer and Meigs EMS celebrate EMS week. Submitted photo.

SOUTHEAST OHIO – Holzer Emergency Departments recently hosted cookouts for local EMS personnel at our facilities in Gallipolis, Jackson, and Pomeroy, Ohio in recognition of National Emergency Medical Services Week.

National EMS recognizes our local EMS personnel as well as gives us a time to publicly thank them for the duties they carry out each and every day. The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) was instrumental in establishing EMS Week when President Gerald Ford declared November 3 – 10, 1974 as the first “National Emergency Medical Services Week.” In 1992 EMS Week was moved to the third week in May.

At each location, all personnel were able to spend time with Ohio Valley Physicians, who are the Emergency Physicians and Hospitalists in Holzer Emergency Departments.
