Football season returns for Meigs, Southern and Eastern teams
MEIGS COUNTY – Football season is here. In addition to this seasons schedules, here is a look into what each team can expect.
Meigs Marauders
The Marauders had a respectable 6-4 record last year. The first test
for the Marauders will come in week three. Last year Logan came away
with the win at home. With a score of 27 – 22, the Marauders received
their first lost. The fact this game will be at home this year could make all the difference. If they can get the win, it would go a long way in boosting confidence later in the season.
Southern Tornadoes
Southern broke even last year with a 5-5 record. However, the
Tornadoes made school history with a win over Wahama. Southern could likely repeat despite being on the road. It may be difficult to
improve on their record, but the status quo isn’t bad. Week two is
going to be a fight. The Frontier road game might be the best chance
the Tornadoes have at improving to a 6-4 record.
Eastern Eagles
It’s no secret Eastern struggled last year with just two wins. It
might seem bleak, but there is some hope. The second week sees Miller
on the road at Eastern. If Eastern can find the end zone early in this
game, they could make it close. Unfortunately, the end of the year
rivalry game at Southern could be another tough defeat. Even so, much can change from the begging of the season to the end, let alone from one year to the next.
