Southern brings home second win, Meigs and Eastern fall short

high school football week twoMiller at Eastern

The Eastern Eagles suffered a tough loss at home against the Miller Falcons. Despite losing 20 – 14, the Eagles have a lot to be proud of. Last years game against Miller saw the Eagles lose 28 – 0. By getting on the board and tightening defense, the Eagles have made a huge improvement. If the improvement continues, the Eagles have a real chance at turning this season around. There are a number of tough games coming up, but if the Eagles can keep the score close and competitive, they could be looking at a much improved record from last years 2 – 8.

Amanda at Meigs

The Marauders suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the Amanda Aces. After falling 14 – 0 early on, the Marauders couldn’t quite get the win, losing 20 – 14. Looking at last years game, in which the Marauders won 42 – 27, this year’s might come as a shock. It speaks more to the improvement of the Aces, rather than the decline of the Marauders. The season is early and the Marauders are still trying to find their feet. As a result of the ever changing nature that is high school sports, the Marauders could be in for an unpredictable season.

Southern at Frontier

With a win of 27 – 6, the Tornadoes improve to 2 – 0. This win was huge for the Tornadoes. After losing to Frontier the last two seasons and a nail-biter win last week, this win gives Southern additional momentum going into next weeks game against Wahama. If the Tornadoes can keep up with their current trend, they could see a year that would rival the 8 – 2 season of 2013.
