obit candles CGNeil Hollis Sanders, 88, of 228 First Avenue, Gallipolis, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016 after a lengthy illness. Neil was born October 24, 1928 in Lancaster, Ohio, the son of the late Wayne and Gladys Sanders.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Adelaide Burnette Sanders and his two children, Hollace Ann (Rick) Moody and Neil Hollis Sanders II and five grandchildren, Joe (Holly) Moody, Jennifer (Hugh) Graham, Seth (Stephanie) Thompson, Jillian Bevan and Erica (Alex) Saunders, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by a brother, Lloyd Sanders, sisters, Ruth Wilson, Mary Ann Theller, Martha Snoke and several nieces and nephews.

An Ohio licensed funeral director and embalmer for many years, he was previously co-owner of the Wetherholt-Elliott-Sanders Funeral Home and was retired from the Gallipolis City Schools where he was best known as the principal of Washington Elementary School for 22 years.

At Neil’s request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Private family graveside rites will be conducted Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Neil’s memory to your favorite charity or church.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Cremeens-King Funeral Chapel.
