Grant research opportunity available to study human trafficking prevalence in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio – In collaboration with Gov. John R. Kasich’s Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force, the Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS) is seeking applications for funding for research projects that support and inform the work of the Task Force and other anti-trafficking stakeholders in responding to the challenges that trafficking in persons, also known as human trafficking, poses throughout Ohio.

“In recent years, significant progress has been made in responding to human trafficking across the state,” said OCJS Executive Director Karhlton Moore. “However, the lack of state and national data remains a challenge for response efforts.”

The goal of this research is to assess the extent to which youth and children are exploited in Ohio.

OCJS will award one applicant up to $100,000 for 12 months of funding, operating from July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018. The research will be funded by the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG).

All applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. EST on March 17, 2017, online through the OCJS Grants Management System.
