Suspect in thefts, torching of vehicle arrested
POMEROY, Ohio – A man suspected of being involved with the theft and torching of vehicle has been arrested.
Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood reports Anthony G. Davis, 29, of Langsville, Ohio has been arrested for his alleged involvement with the February 8, 2017 report filed by Casey Pickens of the theft of his 2006 Hyundai Tiburon. Pickens’s vehicle was later located that same day burned on Buck Run Road outside of Wilkesville, Ohio. During the course of the investigation, information was obtained that allegedly placed Davis in the stolen vehicle. Felony charges of Receiving Stolen Property and Tampering with Evidence have been filed against Davis.
On February 23, 2017, Deputy Chris Jones attempted to stop Davis in a motor vehicle on State Route 124 near Salem Center on the outstanding warrant issued out of the Meigs County Court. Davis refused to stop and was pursued through parts of Meigs and Vinton Counties before deputies lost sight of the vehicle. Davis was later apprehended by Deputy Chris Jones at a residence near Wilkesville. Davis was taken into custody and is currently incarcerated. Davis was charged with one count of Fleeing and Eluding, a felony of the fourth degree.
Davis has also been implicated in other investigations as well. He is facing additional charges of Grand Theft for the alleged theft of a 2015 Polaris Razr which was stolen from Aaron Sellers from Syracuse, Ohio on February 12, 2017. Deputy Jeff Perry, while investigating this case was able to obtain statements and recover the stolen Razr on March 2, 2017. The Razr has been returned to Sellers. Davis faces a charge of Grand Theft, a felony of the Fourth degree in that case.
