POMEROY, Ohio – A rockslide has closed a portion of Main Street in Pomeroy.

A rockslide occurred across from McDonald’s around 4 a.m. Friday morning. The Pomeroy Fire Department was called out to help clear the trees that had fallen along with a portion of a large rock that had broken in two, but the incident required a larger cleanup.

Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation along with AEP and the Pomeroy Police Department currently are on the scene. As a precaution, electric has been disabled in downtown Pomeroy from the Marathon gas station through town.

The road is closed at this time until the rock and trees can be removed.
