Gallia Sheriff thanks Meigs Sheriff for assistance in Bridgeport Equipment theft suspect arrest

GALLIPOLIS, Ohio – Gallia County Sheriff Matt Champlin has released more information regarding the investigation of the stolen John Deere tractor from Bridgeport Equipment.

According to Sheriff Champlin, George Pendleton IV, 34, of Vinton, Ohio was taken into custody during the execution of a search warrant at his residence for the theft of the tractor. After consulting with Prosecuting Attorney Jason Holdren, additional charges expected to be forthcoming.

“I would like to thank the public for their information which led to a successful conclusion to this investigation. Additionally, I would like to thank our friends at the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in bringing this case to a close. The working relationship between law enforcement and the public is again speaking loudly to the criminal element that we will not tolerate your inability to obey the law,” Sheriff Champlin said.

He added that as a result of the investigation into the theft offense, an indoor marijuana grow operation was discovered. The investigation of this criminal activity is still ongoing and further charges are expected to be filed at the conclusion of this investigation.
