Drugs discovered after alleged shooting of man with a bow
POMEROY, Ohio – One man is in custody following the alleged shooting of another with a bow.
According to Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood, deputies responded to a shooting on Pomeroy Pike Road after receiving a call from the Meigs Emergency Room. The Meigs ER reported they had a male subject that had an injury to the left side of his head/neck area. The victim said he was shot with a bow while at the residence but couldn’t give an address.
Sgt. Mohler and Deputy Fennell were able to locate the residence. At the residence, they made contact with the suspect, who was identified as Russell Starcher, 57, of 43707 Pomeroy Pike Rd, Pomeroy, Ohio. Starcher was arrested and is currently in the Meigs County Jail. Sheriff Wood and Meigs County Prosecutor, James Stanley, conferred about the case and felonious assault charges were filed with additional charges pending.
Agents from the Meigs/Gallia Major Crimes Task Force along with agents from BCI were called in to process the scene. According to a statement from Sheriff Wood they were “able to locate evidence of the shooting.”
The agents also allegedly located an indoor marijuana grow at the residence, and located Heroin in the victim’s car.
The victim was later flown to Grant Hospital in Columbus where he remains in stable condition.
The case is still being investigated and is ongoing.
