CHESTER, Ohio – The Chester Fire Department is hosting Kids Safety Fun Day on June 17, 2017.

With the goal of being a fun, yet informative opportunity for families, the event will run from noon to 3 p.m. with multiple activities for children including bounce houses from Meigs Inflatables and face painting. Two large stuffed Dalmatians will be given away in addition to 300 smoke detectors. There will also be free food.

In addition to the Chester Fire Department, other local fire departments and agencies will be on hand. Also at Kids Safety Fun Day will be Smokey Bear, Safety Pup, Sparky the Dog, and the Meigs County Sheriff’s K-9 Bax. The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office will be offering Kids Safe Fingerprinting and the New Haven Fire Department will have their Fire and Home Safety House. The Meigs County Emergency Management in cooperation with the Ohio Emergency Management Agency will have a Safe Room on display. The Safe Room display model was developed by the Ohio EMA Mitigation and Recovery Branch to educate the citizens in Ohio on wind and tornado mitigation and preparedness. The Pomeroy Gun Club will be offering a shooting education range. MedFlight, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Ohio State Patrol and Tyler County Search and Rescue will also be at the event.
