Body of Racine man recovered along Hocking River
ATHENS, Ohio – The body of a Racine, Ohio man swept over a waterfall on the Hocking River has been found.
According to officials, at about 6:30 a.m. July 11, 2017 the body was discovered on the river bank about 200 yards downstream from where Steve Lippson, 40, went into the water. Following the discovery, the family was notified.
Lippson was part of a group of 12 kayaking on the Hocking River July 8, 2017 when they ran into trouble with the White’s Mill Falls. Five in the group, including a child, had to be rescued by the Athens Fire Department and other emergency responders. Six of the kayakers were able to make it to the river bank avoiding being swept over the falls.
