Local council, trustee, and school board seats set to be decided in Nov. 7 election
MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – Local council seats, township trustees and school board seats will be up for the upcoming Nov. 7, 2017 election.
According to the Meigs County Board of Elections, multiple positions are open with certified candidates and write-in candidates running for the various positions.
Villages
For Middleport Council, with four to be elected one filed, Sharon Older, and two are running as write-ins, Carolyn French, Ruby Vaughan, Emerson Heighton and Brian Conde.
Don Anderson is the sole candidate filed to run for Pomeroy Mayor.
Running for Pomeroy Village Council with four to be elected are, Nicholas Michael, Victor Young III, Brian Young, Thomas Proffitt, and Philip Ohlinger.
For Racine Village Council with four to be elected, filed are Ashli Peterman, Ian Wise, and Robert Beegle. Kevin Dugan is running as a write-in candidate.
Rutland Village Council has Kimberly Willford as the only candidate running with four to be elected. Stephanie Dillon and Kip Grueser had been on the ballot but have withdrawn from the race.
Syracuse Village Council has Barry McCoy, David Poole, Michelle White, Tom Weaver and Eber Pickens, Jr. running with four to be elected. Casey Pickens is running as a write-in candidate.
Township Trustees
Bedford Township Trustees have two to be elected with Shawn Hayley, Eldon Leon Sauters and Bob Jones running.
Chester Township Trustees have two to be elected with Jeromee Calaway, Paul Morrison, James Hawthorne and Alan Holter all running.
Marco Jeffers, Gary Carr, Thomas A. Smith, Sr., and Don Cheadle are all candidates for two seats as Columbia Township Trustees.
Gary Cooper, Vincent Gray, Gerard Perry, David Rose and Donald Dailey are vying for two seats as Lebanon Township Trustees. Matthew Evans is running for a separate seat as Lebanon Township.
Letart Township has two seats open with two running, Dave Graham and Michael Roush.
Olive Township has two seats to be elected with Austin Bailey, Williams Osborne, L. Brian Collins and Larry Life running.
Michael Guess, Chad Nelson and Roger Ritchie are vying for two seats as Orange Township Trustees.
For Rutland Township Trustee with two to be elected running are Jamie Fortner, David Davis, and Steve Lambert.
Salem Township Trustees have two to be elected with Jack Ervin, Eddie Howery and H. Dannie Lambert vying for the two seats. For a separate seat, Rebecca Johnston is running for Salem Township Trustee as well.
Bill Spaun and Robert Ball are running for Salisbury Township Trustees with two to be elected.
Scipio Township Trustees have two to be elected with Tammy Andrés and Roger Cotterill running.
Howard “Buddy” Ervin, Joseph Nottingham, James Tony Carnahan, Adam Johnson, Alan Crisp and Larry Smith are vying for two seats as Sutton Township Trustees.
School Boards
For Eastern Local School District Board of Education with two to be elected running are Sammi Mugrage and Amanda Reed.
Southern Local School District Board of Education has three to be elected, but only two filed. Running are Dennis Teaford and Brenda Johnson. Tom Woods, Kent Wolfe, Don Smith and Tom Theiss are running as a write-in candidates.
Heather Hayley, Jayson Tillis, Ryan Mayr, and Steven Vance are vying for two seats on the Meigs Local School District Board of Education.
For Alexander Local School District running are Jay Barnes, Josh Collins, Fred Davis, Margaret J. Demko, Ralph Harvey, Sr., Lucy deLaval Juedes, and Jody L. Monk.
For member of governing board of ESC at large, John Depoy is running.
