Community Lenten Services Set

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – It is time once again for the Community Lenten Services to be held throughout the county.

Lent is a time of reflection and repentance prior to Easter. During this season, Christians around the world take time to reflect on how sin causes separation from God. And, upon reflection, if a Christian realizes they are disconnected from their walk with God, it is a time to repent, or turn back to God. The Community Lenten Services are an opportunity for various denominations to come together during the season of Lent leading up to Easter. These Community Lenten Services are held each Thursday in Lent until Holy Week (which is the week immediately preceding Easter Sunday). Each host church provides a light supper at 6 p.m. and then a community worship service is held at 7 p.m., with a guest speaker from another local church. At each service a special offering is taken up which is used by the Meigs Ministerial Association to help minister to local needs and families.

The Meigs County Church Lent schedule begins on March 5 at the Mount Hermon United Brethren Church with Pastor Walt Goble speaking. The church is located at 346411 Wickham Road, Pomeroy, Ohio 45769.

The second service in the series will be held on March 12 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Sheryl Goble speaking. The church is located at 231 E. Second Street in Pomeroy.

On March 19 the service will be at the Middleport Presbyterian Church with Pastor Brenda Barnhart speaking. The church is located at 165 N. Fourth Street in Middleport.

The series continues on March 26 at the Laurel Cliff Free Methodist Church with Pastor Adam Will speaking. The church is located at 40792 Laurel Cliff Road, Pomeroy.
