Easter morning homicide in Pomeroy
POMEROY, Ohio – The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that is now a homicide.
According to Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood, about 5 a.m. calls came in about yelling and shots fired in the area known as Legion Terrace of Pomeroy. A victim was found on the porch of a home with multiple gun shot wounds from what is believed to be a shot gun. Sheriff Wood said that the home had no connection to the incident as they believe the victim was attempting to get help from the residence. When deputies arrived, the victim was still alive.
“BCI is assisting the investigation,” Sheriff Wood said with their investigative unit.
Sheriff Wood said that Meigs EMS also responded. According to Sheriff Wood, the victim was transported by Meigs EMS to Holzer Meigs Emergency Department where the victim succumbed to his injuries.
At this time the name of the victim is not being released. The only details released that the victim was a male.
