Crash reminder to slow done for road work
TUPPERS PLAINS, Ohio – A vehicle crash had part of State Route 681 closed for about an hour on April 8, 2021. With road work, motorists need to be aware of road crews.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Gallia-Meigs Post, Joesph G. Runyon, 53, of Coolville, failed to stop during road work for a flagger and struck a parked vehicle. Runyon was traveling west on SR 681 in a 1998 Buick Lasabre when he encountered road work being done to the berm by the Ohio Department of Transportation. The occupant of the second vehicle, a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 3500, was parked facing west with the occupant outside the vehicle directing traffic with a stop sign. According to OSHP, Runyon failed to stop for the stop sign and struck the parked truck.
Responding to the scene in addition to OSHP, were Olive Township Fire Department, Meigs EMS, Meigs EMS, Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, Meigs ODOT, and Riverside Towing.
