2021 National Day of Prayer

Meigs County to observe National Day of Prayer

POMEROY, Ohio – Meigs County will be observing the 70th Anniversary of the National Day of Prayer this week with several events.

This year’s theme for the National Day of Prayer is, “Lord, Pour out Your Love, Life & Liberty,” with the scripture from 2 Corinthians 3:17, “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the lord is, there is freedom.”

Events began on May 2, at 3 p.m. with people gathering at the Meigs County Courthouse to pray for local government and employees.

Bible reading begins at the Pomeroy Levy on May 3-5 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Volunteers will be reading passages from the Bible throughout the three days.

The observance ceremony in conjunction with other National Day of Prayer events across the nation will take place on May 6 at 11:30 a.m. on the Meigs County Courthouse steps. According to the organizers, “Feel free to join us as we pray for our government, state, and local officials, as well as other needs in our country and community.”

Organizers say they will be following health guidelines on social distancing, etc. They also advise that this is an outside event, and those attending can bring a lawn chair. In case of inclement weather, the event will take place at Trinity Church.

Additionally, signs will be posted on the walking paths in Pomeroy, Middleport, and Racine from May 2-May 6.
