Ralph Larry O’Brien, 83, of Racine

Ralph Larry O’Brien, 83, of Racine, Letart Falls Community, passed away at 9:45 p.m. on Monday, July 12, 2021 at his residence. Born November 24, 1937, in Alfred, Ohio he was the son of the late Rex and Mary Swartz O’Brien.

He retired after 32 years of services as a crane operator for Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, WV., He was a Master Mason of the Pomeroy Racine Lodge #164 F. &. M. of Ohio. He enjoyed farming and he will always be known for his quirky statements and sayings.  

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Adams O’Brien, whom he married on November 6, 1959 in Letart Falls, children, Jim O’Brien, of Racine, Linda (Dale) Teaford, of Portland, and Carol (Kelvin Hoover) Pape, of Racine, grandchildren, Jamie O’Brien, Dale (Andrea Owens) Teaford, Derek (Cecilia) Teaford, Darin Teaford, Lindsay (D.W. Mahan) Teaford, Josh (Ashley) Pape, Chelsea (Johnny) Holsinger, and Adam Pape. Great-grandchildren, Wyatt Teaford, Ranger Blackston, Ember Mahan, Shay Holsinger, and Arly Jo on the way, sisters, Nancy Rawlings, of Shade, and June Eichinger, of Pomeroy, three nieces and a nephew also survive. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Florence and Marshall “Bob” Adams, brothers-in-law, Raymond Adams, John Rawlings, Paul Eichinger.

The family would like to express a special thankyou to Buckeye Hospice, his nurse April Smitley, Lindsay Teaford, Pastor Rick Bourne, and Kathy Mayle for the excellent care they provided for Larry. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021 in the Cremeens-King Funeral Home, Racine, with Pastor Rick Bourne officiating.  Interment will follow in the Letart Falls Cemetery.  Friends may call from 5-7:45 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. A Masonic funeral services conducted by Lodge #164 will be conducted at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.
