Safety Day for Kids Set for July 31

SYRACUSE, Ohio – The Village of Syracuse is hosting a Safety Day this Saturday, July 31, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Syracuse Municipal Park.

For this year’s event, the Syracuse Fire Department and the Syracuse Police Department will have the Meigs County London Pool open to the general public, with free admission from 12-8 p.m. The community can rock out with DJ Rockin Reggie from 6- 8 p.m. There will also be a car show that will be available from 12-3 p.m.

Kids are welcome to view, in person, a MedFlight helicopter, fire trucks, police cruisers, and a Meigs County EMS emergency squad. Meigs Inflatables will also be attending the Safety Day and providing a bounce house and an obstacle course for the kids to enjoy. Free food will also be served.

“The Village of Syracuse Safety Day aims to give the children of Meigs County an entertaining event and allowing them to finish out the month with a blast. Due to  COVID-19, the parks and pools were closed last year, therefore; the Syracuse Fire Department and the Syracuse Police Department wanted to give kids an enjoyable day and an opportunity to see Public Safety Departments in a positive light. We look forward to seeing everyone at the event,” stated Police Chief Michael Oliver.

Sponsors of the event include Home National Bank, Mason Walmart, Meigs County Commissioners, and the Village of Syracuse.
