Opening Ceremony
Immediately following the Junior Fair Parade, the opening ceremonies began. Jordan Pickens continued to announce. Junior Fair Board members were recognized along with Meigs County Agricultural Society directors (senior fair board members).
During the opening ceremony the families of Anna Parker and Jim Ridenour were presented with plaques in memory of Parker and Ridenour respectively. Both loved the fair, contributed in different ways and encouraged the life lessons brought from spending time in the barn and working hard. The 2021 Meigs County Fair is dedicated to the memory of both individuals. A moment of silence was observed.
Ohio Valley Bank presented checks for their 4-H Scholarship recipients. This year’s recipient is Caelin Seth. Dan Short from Ohio Valley Bank presented Seth with her first check. The scholarship is for four years for a total of $3,000. Also receiving their checks from previous scholarship winners were Austin Rose, Sierra Holter, and Rachel Kesterson.
The annual 4-H Committee scholarship recipient for this year was also announced. Kristin McKay was awarded the scholarship. Additionally there were funds available for two one-time $250 scholarships. Those recipients were Braden Watson and Hannah Erwin.
