Fatal Crash Occurs Overnight

LANGSVILLE, Ohio – A one vehicle crash resulted in a fatality in the Langsville area at 9:05 p.m. on Nov. 10, 2021.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 1993 Ford Ranger was being driven north on County Road 10 by Tyler W. Gaus, 28, of Ironton, Ohio. The OSHP reports that the Ranger went off the right side of the roadway striking a culvert. Gaus drove back on to County Road 10 and off the left side overturning into a creek. He was not wearing a safety belt according to OSHP. Gaus unfortunately passed away at the scene. His body was taken to Birchfield Funeral Home. 

In addition to the OSHP and Birchfield Funeral Home, Rutland Fire Department responded along with Meigs County Sheriff’s Office, Meigs EMS and 33 Auto. Syracuse Fire Department was additionally called for assistance with a diver.
