Search for Suspect in Meigs County, Allegedly Pulled Gun on Deputy
POMEROY, Ohio – A search is ongoing for a suspect that allegedly pulled a weapon on a Meigs County Deputy.
According to a statement from the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, this morning at 9:56 a.m. a pursuit began with a Nissan driven by Cody D. Casteel. It was not until afterwards Casteel was identified. The suspect led deputies from Union Avenue to State Route 7 to State Route 143 to Ball Run Road.
According to the statement, the pursuit ended at the intersection of Ball Run Road and Bunker Hill Church Road. It was at that point Casteel allegedly pulled a gun on a deputy (the name of the deputy has not been released). Casteel then fled into the woods on foot. The area he fled into the woods was near Bunker Hill Church Road. Cody Casteel, 26, of Nelsonville, was last seen wearing dark colored clothing and a dark colored ball cap. He is approximately 6’ tall with brown hair and green eyes. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
In addition to the Meigs County Deputies, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Pomeroy Police Department, Middleport Police Department, and Gallia County Sheriff’s Office have all responded to the scene and in the search for Casteel.
