Racine Southern FFA Held Their Annual Petting Zoo and Easter Egg Hunt Held

By Kylee Circle

RACINE, Ohio – The Racine Southern FFA Chapter has held an event to allow school children to experience animals first hand and have fun while learning.

On Friday, April 8, 2022 the Racine Southern FFA chapter held their Annual Petting Zoo and Easter Egg Hunt for Southern’s Head Start through Third Grade. The event is designed to allow younger ones to learn about livestock and enjoy an Easter Egg Hunt on the football field. FFA members brought in animals and worked the egg hunt filling easter eggs and hiding the eggs on the football field. The first one to find the golden egg received a big chocolate bunny as their prize.

Students were able to see chicks hatching (from the livestock class), sheep, rooster, ducks, a snake, rabbit, pig, bottle baby calves, and a horse. The day was very successful overall. Many students expressed being overjoyed with their experiences with the petting zoo and egg hunt. The Racine Southern FFA Chapter enjoys teaching youth about agriculture and are looking forward to next year’s egg hunt and petting zoo with the kids.
