Meigs County Board of Commissioners Meeting

The time for the meeting is 8:30 a.m. due to a scheduling conflict. Normally the meetings are every Thursday at 10 a.m.

Summer Story Time

There’s an “Ocean of Possibilities” at the library with summer reading. The program features weekly stories and crafts featuring sea creatures. This session will be at the Middleport Library at 1 p.m.

End of Summer Reading Pool Party

There will be a pool party from 5-7 p.m. at the Meigs County London Pool in Syracuse. Prizes and refreshments will be available, thanks to local businesses. This event is free and open to all.

Meigs County Democrat Party Meeting

The Meigs County Democrat Party will hold a meeting 6 p.m. at the Carpenter’s Hall in Pomeroy. The candidate for Congress in District 2, Samantha Meadows will be at the meeting. Light refreshments served.

Meigs County Schools Food Pantry

The Meigs County School Food Pantry will be distributing food from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Meigs Local School District offices. Fresh produce donated from the local farmers market will be available while supplies last.

Inspirational Book Club

There will be an Inspiration Book Club meeting at the Pomeroy location of the Meigs County District Public Library from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the Riverview Room. The group reads one book per month and meets on the fourth Friday of each month to discuss the title.

CPR Training

A free CPR Training at the Mulberry Community Center at 260 Mulberry Avenue in Pomeroy is scheduled and registration is required by calling Lenora Leifheit at 740-992-5836.

Letart Township Meeting

The regular Letart Township Trustee meeting will be at 5 p.m. in the Letart Township Building.

Broad Band Meeting

The Buckeye Hills Regional Council Broadband Committee will meet at Buckeye Hills Regional Council, 1400 Pike Street, Marietta, on Monday, July 25, 2022, at 1 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the Affordable Connectivity Program and digital initiatives of the Appalachian Regional Commission. Hunter Education Courses

Jenny Ridenour with the Meigs Soil and Water Conservation District will host a Hunter Education course through the Ohio Division of Wildlife. Learn about responsibility, firearms and ammunition, wildlife management, shooting, bowhunting, personal safety and survival, care of game. Must attend both days. Acoustic Night at the Library

Acoustic Night at the Library returns at the Pomeroy Library. Musicians are invited to play and sing a variety of music including bluegrass, light rock, country, and gospel. Singers are also welcome. All skill levels are invited to attend. Beginners are encouraged to learn from experienced players. Acoustic Night takes place on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.

Needlework Network

The Needlework Network is a group of fabric artists who meet each week at the Pomeroy Library to work on their projects, share tips, and socialize. New members and visitors are always welcome. Bring your current projects to share with others. Veteran knitters will be available to provide assistance, and learners are always welcome. Yarn, knitting needles and crochet hooks are available for practice. All types of needlework welcome including quilting, embroidery, crochet, knitting, sewing, needlepoint and more. The group meets each Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Riverview Room at the Pomeroy Library.

Bitanga’s Martial Arts Super Show

Held at the Blakeslee Center in Middleport at 7 p.m. The show will consist of many fun and intriguing martial arts performances performed by students of Bitanga’s Martial Arts Center. For more information visit Bitanga’s Facebook page.

Community Pool Party

The Meigs County Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a free community pool party at the Syracuse London Pool on August 1 from 6-8 p.m. Special guest Rockin Reggie will be playing music along with games and prizes as well. Kona Ice will be there with the first 100 guests receiving a free Kona Ice. Admission is free.

The Tuppers Plains Regional Sewer District will hold their regular monthly board meeting Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at 7 p.m. at the district office in Tuppers Plains.

Hope for Recovery Forum

There will be a Hope for Recovery Forum at 6:30 p.m. at the Rock Church, 1305 37th Street, Parkersburg, West Virginia. Coplin Health Systems is partnering with the RCORP Implementation I grant to promote this opportunity. The community is invited to participate in this opportunity to have a conversation about the overdose crises in the region. This event will host a panel of experts, as well as individuals from the region who are thriving in recovery.

Big Bend Blues Bash Music Festival

Big Bend Blues Bash at the Pomeroy Levee and Court Grill tickets for Friday are $25 each and Saturday is $35 each. Production of Never Ending Story

Public Safety Day and Recruitment

There will be a Public Safety Family Fun and Recruitment Day at the Hocking College in Nelsonville from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature fun activities and an opportunity to encourage engagement between public safety agencies and the communities they serve.

Fire Department Hosted Yard Sale

The Tuppers Plains Fire Department will hold a Community Yard Sale at 42040 Main Street in Tuppers Plains from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Food and drinks available for a donation. Those wishing to set up can rent a lot for $20 for 10×10 space. For more information contact Kristen or Josh 740-667-6163.

Book Club returns to the Meigs County District Public Library in Pomeroy at 4 p.m. The Book Club will be reading and discussing The Givers of Stars by Jojo Moyes at the August meeting. Vacation Bible School

VBS at Forest Run UMC
VBS will be held Thursday, July 28, Friday, July 29, and Saturday, July 30 at 6-8:30 p.m. each evening. Thursday and Friday will be full VBS evenings, whereas Saturday will have a lesson and will be a family fun community evening with a cookout, bounce house from Meigs Inflatables, face painting, balloon animals, and fun. VBS serves children ages 0-12, and everyone is invited to our family fun community evening. We are located at Forest Run United Methodist Church at 43712 Forest Run Road Racine, Oh 45771.
