August 4
Hope for Recovery Forum

There will be a Hope for Recovery Forum at 6:30 p.m. at the Rock Church, 1305 37th Street, Parkersburg, West Virginia. Coplin Health Systems is partnering with the RCORP Implementation I grant to promote this opportunity. The community is invited to participate in this opportunity to have a conversation about the overdose crises in the region. This event will host a panel of experts, as well as individuals from the region who are thriving in recovery.

August 5
Meigs County Public Employee Retirees Meeting

Meigs County Public Employee Retirees Inc., Chapter 74 will meet Friday, Aug. 5 at 1 p.m. at the Mulberry Community Center, 260 Mulberry Ave., Pomeroy. Becca Martin, Project Director of Vantage of Southeast Ohio, an organization that works with senior citizens interested in obtaining part or full time employment, will be the guest speaker. Also, Greg Ervin, PERI District 7 Representative will be present to provide updates on issues affecting PERI members. All Meigs County Public Employee Retirees are urged to attend.

Big Bend Blues Bash Music Festival

Big Bend Blues Bash at the Pomeroy Levee and Court Grill tickets for Friday are $25 each and Saturday is $35 each. VIP tickets are available online at bigbendbluesbash.com This is the 21st year for the event. Performers include Dragons Eye, Renee Stewart Band, Noah Wotherspoon, the Labra Brothers, Gizzae, Terra Soul, Steve Riffle and Real Deal, Stone Quillen and Generation Gap, the Jaded Ravins, Laid Back Country Picker, the Muggs, Clarence Spady and the Electric City Band, Nikki Hill, and Big Sam’s Funky Nation. Noah’s Ark Outdoor Drama

Noah’s Ark Outdoor Live Drama will be held 7:30 p.m. on August 5,6,7 and August 12, 13, 14 at the Hillside Baptist Church. The church is located at 39760 State Route 143, Pomeroy, Ohio. Attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets. There is limited handicap parking and drop off area. Love offering taken. Concessions will be open. Open air event, rain can cancel. Production of Never Ending Story

Wolfe Mountain Entertainment presents “The Never Ending Story” with two nights of the production at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $10. Tickets and more information can be found at wolfemountain.com

Public Safety Day and Recruitment

There will be a Public Safety Family Fun and Recruitment Day at the Hocking College in Nelsonville from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature fun actvities and an opportunity to encourage engagement between pulic safety agencies and the communities they serve.

August 6-7
Fire Department Hosted Yard Sale

The Tuppers Plains Fire Department will hold a Community Yard Sale at 42040 Main Street in Tuppers Plains from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Food and drinks available for a donation. Those wishing to set up can rent a lot for $20 for 10×10 space. For more information contact Kristen or Josh 740-667-6163.

Little Shop of Horrors Production

The River City Players will present the summer musical “Little Shop of Horrors” at the Blakeslee Center in Middleport. For more information see the River City Players Facebook page.

August 14
Opening Ceremony for Meigs County Fair

The event takes place at the Grandstand. The Junior Fair Parade will begin at 7:30 p.m. followed by the official opening ceremony, Meigs County Little Miss and Mister Crowning, and Meigs County Junior Fair Royalty crowning. There is no admission for the event.

August 15-20
Meigs County Fair

Book Club

Book Club returns to the Meigs County District Public Library in Pomeroy at 4 p.m. The Book Club will be reading and discussing The Givers of Stars by Jojo Moyes at the August meeting. To obtain a copy of the book contact 740-992-5813 or stop by the Pomeroy Library. The Book Club meets on the fourht Monday of each month at 4 p.m. in the Riverview Room at the Pomeroy Library.

Inspirational Book Club

There will be an Inspiration Book Club meeting at the Pomeroy location of the Meigs County District Public Library from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the Riverview Room. The group reads one book per month and meets on the fourth Friday of each month to discuss the title.

Regular Meetings

Meigs County Board of Commissioners Meeting
The County Commissioners meet every Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Board of Commissioners offices at the Meigs County Courthouse. The office is now located on the second floor.

Fourth Fridays of the Month
Inspirational Book Club

The Inspirational Book Club meeting will be at the Pomeroy location of the Meigs County District Public Library from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the Riverview Room. The group reads one book per month and meets on the fourth Friday of each month to discuss the title.

Second and Fourth Tuesdays
Acousitic Night at the Library

Acousitc Night at the Library is every second and fourth Tuesdays of the month Pomeroy Library. Musicians are invited to play and sing a variety of music including bluegrass, light rock, country, and gospel. Singers are also welcome. All skill levels are invited to attend. Beginners are encouraged to learn from experienced players.

Every Wednesday
Needlework Network
The Needlework Network is a group of fabric artists who meet each week at the Pomeroy Library to work on their projects, share tips, and socialize. New members and visitors are always welcome. Bring your current projects to share with others. Veteran knitters will be available to provide assistance, and learners are always welcome. Yarn, knitting needles and crochet hooks are available for practice. All types of needlework welcome including quilting, embroidery, crochet, knitting, sewing, needlepoint and more. The group meets each Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Riverview Room at the Pomeroy Library.
