The Church Mouse: Broken

He makes the broken-hearted well, and puts oil on their wounds.” – Psalms 147:3

I was in the  Dollar store few days ago and there was a lady with two kids behind me in the LONG line. The bigger one had a pack of glow sticks, and the toddler was screaming for them. The Mom, finally opened the pack and gave the toddler one, which stopped his tears and the screams.

He walked around with it and was all smiles; but then the bigger boy took it away from the toddler who started screaming again. Just as the Mom was about to stop the fuss, the older child bent the glow stick and handed it back to the toddler. The screaming stopped.

As we walked outside at the about the same time, the toddler noticed that the stick was now glowing; and his brother was telling him “I had to break it, Bub, so that you could get the full effect from it.”

Wham!!
l could hear God saying to me, “I had to break you to show you why I created you. You had to go through those hard times so you could fulfill your purpose.”

That toddler was happy just swinging that “unbroken” glow stick around in the air without it glowing, because he didn’t understand what it was created to do – which was “glow”.

There are some people who will be content just “being,” but some of us are chosen… we have to be “broken.”

We have to get sick.
We have to lose a job.
We go through a divorce.
We have to suffer.
Some even go to jail.
We have to bury our spouse,
parents,
best friend,
or our child…

In those moments of desperation, We were broken. But… when the breaking is done, and we come out on the other side we are able to see the reason for which we were created. So when you see us glowing, just know that we have been broken.

Remember that God uses the most unlikely people and the craziest situations to accomplish great things.

Prayer-
Father God, We thank you for loving us. Thank you Father for breaking us free from our sinful nature and restoring us to have eternal life with you. Guide us Father in you ways that we may produce good works for the upbuilding of your kingdom.
Amen
