The Church Mouse: Can You Hear Me Now

“And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it.” – Isaiah 30:21

Can you hear me now?  We all remember the TV commercial, from a few years ago where the guy is walking around with the cell phone asking the question. “Can you hear me now?”

Here’s a story  about a lady who had a hearing problem.
‘One day she and her husband were driving from Tennessee to Little Rock, Arkansas. They were pulled over by a state trooper who asked if the husband knew how fast he was driving.
The wife asked, “What did he say?”
The husband replied, “HE ASKED IF I KNEW THAT I WAS SPEEDING.”
Looking at the man’s driver’s license the trooper said, “I see you are not from around here.”
The husband said, “No we are from Memphis.”
The wife again asked, “What did you say?”
The husband told her, “I SAID WE ARE FROM MEMPHIS.”
The state trooper then commented, “You know, the meanest woman I ever met was from Memphis.”
The wife again asked, “What did he say?”
The husband replied, “HE SAYS HE THINKS HE KNOWS YOU!”

How many of you think that you are good listeners?
Too often, we think that we are listening what God is saying to us.  But do we really hear? Or are we only hearing what we want to hear?

Jesus tells us that He came to reveal the truth and not to hide it. He warns us to hear the truth. He also told us what to do with the truth after having heard it.

How you listen to God?  What  you do with what He says will determine what you receive.
It’s the Law of Use:  Do you know what that law is?  It is “Use It or Lose It.”

How can you expect to keep your powers of hearing when you never listen?  Proverbs 8:34 says “Blessed is the man that hears me…”
Jesus said this “My sheep hear my voice…and they follow me:”

Those who are closest to Christ…are those who hear and obey –
They hear and do!
The deepest relationship is not determined by blood, but by hearts and minds that meshed together. The person closest to God is the person who obeys God and takes His Word seriously.
Are you seriously listening for God’s call?

Prayer- “Father, open our ears to hear your words. Help us to listen with our hearts to what you tell us. Father, make us brave enough to follow thru with actions that are pleasing to you. Help us to always be doing things for the up building of your kingdom.  In Christ name we pray. Amen.’
