Clyde Robert “Bob” Fisher

Clyde Robert “Bob” Fisher, 93, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023 in Ravenswood, WV. Bob will be remembered by his family and friends, without exception, as a man with a big heart, a great sense of humor, and many talents.

Born March 12,1929 in Middleport, OH, Bob was the son of the late Clyde Orville “CO” and Virginia Dillard Fisher. Starting his career as a mechanic, Bob retired from Akzo Chemical in Gallipolis Ferry, WV as Director of Environmental, Health, Safety and Training. He was a former fire chief and member of the Middleport Volunteer Fire Dept for over 50 years. Bob was a Korean War Veteran and member of Drew Webster American Legion Post #39 in Pomeroy, OH. He attended the First United Methodist church in Ravenswood where he was active in recording and producing videos of services for those who could not attend in person.

Bob had a rich life with many interests that included wood working, mechanics, painting, ballroom dancing, embroidery, cruising/traveling, and computers. At the age of 56, he volunteered to take the lead in learning a new technology that had just been purchased by his company, a 1985 IBM AT personal computer. Bob subsequently built out an interactive computer and video safety training program, prior to the advent of multimedia and computer- based training mind you, that was adopted company wide.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Emogene (Jean) Wells Fisher. He was also preceded in death by Sarah Jane Fisher (sister), Nancy Fisher Terrell (sister), John Fisher (brother), and Tommy Fisher (brother). Bob is survived by his companion of over 25 years, Bonnie Smith; sons, Bruce (Tom Dooley) Fisher and David (Bethany) Fisher; granddaughters, Grace Fisher and Sydney Fisher; sister, Rosemary Moore; sisters in law, Rita Fisher, Marjorie Wigal and Donna Jones.

Also surviving are his Smith Family, Terry Morgan, Kenneth (Shelli) Smith, Josh Morgan, Jonathan Smith, Eli Smith and Timothy Smith.

Services will be 1:00 pm Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood, WV with public visitation from 12:00 pm until the time of the service. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm at Riverview Cemetery in Middleport, OH following the service.
