Enforcement results released for April Distracted Driving Month

Meigs County Sheriff Scott Fitch announces the enforcement results from April for Distracted Driving Month. This enforcement program is part of the Summer Holiday Enforcement Program Grant through the Ohio Traffic Safety Office.

The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office received a grant total of $12,173.06 for 344 hours to conduct High Visibility Enforcement activities in areas of Meigs County in a effort to reduce fatal crashes.

In April’s Distracted Driving Enforcement efforts, deputies worked 62.75 hours of overtime with the following results; Deputies conducted 51 traffic stops while working the overtime grant and issued 26 citations for passing on a double yellow line on US-33 between Pine Grove Road and the Ravenswood Bridge.

The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office will also be participating in the National Click it or Ticket campaign beginning on May 22, 2023 and running through May 31, 2023. the Click It or Ticket campaign focuses on educating drivers and passengers on the importance of buckling up and always wearing a seatbelt.

This campaign aims at enforcing seatbelt use to help keep travelers safe as they drive in an effort to reduce fatal crashes in Meigs County.
