Mary Frances Copenhaver Hayes
Mary Frances Copenhaver Hayes, 97, of Long Bottom, OH, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Arcadia Nursing Center in Coolville, OH.
She was born Dec. 21, 1925, in Cinco, WV, daughter of the late Fred Cecil Copenhaver and Letha Mary Paxton Copenhaver. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a talented artist, crocheter, seamstress and quilter. She worked as a cook in the Children’s Home and as a Nanny. Mary cared for elderly people in their homes and loved to read and do crossword and number puzzles.
Mary is survived by her children, Sue and Ken Caldwell and William and Stephanie Hayes; grandchildren, Barbara Fronk, James Hayes Jr., Larry Hayes, Tony Shamblin, Greg Shamblin, Kenny Caldwell, Michelle Caldwell and Matthew Caldwell; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Wright, Jane Van Dyke, Sue Hill and Ruth Vallancourt.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Marshall Hayes; 2 sons, James Hayes and Johnnie Hayes; daughter, Linda Imboden; brothers, Fred Copenhaver, James Copenhaver, Raymond Copenhaver and Jack Copenhaver and a sister, Jennie Sergent.
Graveside services will be held at 1 P.M., Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the Ortin Heights Cemetery in Nitro, WV, with James Hardin officiating.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 10-11 A.M. at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, OH.
