Meigs County Independence Day Celebrations Around the County

MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – Celebrating Independence Day is a tradition in Meigs County and this year is no different. The activities start on Saturday, July 1, 2023.

Village of Rutland
The parade will start at 11 a.m.. Following the parade at the Rutland Fireman’s Park there will be games and inflatables that open around noon. Bingo will also start at noon and go all day. The Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker and pretty baby pageant will start at 12:30 p.m., and DJ Kip will have music in the afternoon hours. The Gaven Payne Band will take the stage at 8 p.m. and play until 11 p.m. when the fireworks will start.

The Village of Pomeroy
Family friendly activities will start at 4 p.m. Rockin Reggie, inflatables and food venders, Batman and the Batmobile will be at the levee from 5-7 p.m. There will be a comedy show from 7-8 p.m. and music by Next Level from 8-10 p.m. followed by fireworks to close out the night.

The Village of Racine
Racine will hold their festivities on July 4, 2023 starting with a Chicken BBQ at 11 a.m. at the fire department, with BBQ chicken dinners and home made Ice Cream. Then at 4 p.m., there will be food trucks at Star Mill Park some signed up to be there are A&B Burgers, Taquiera Guadalupe, and the Wrap Wagon, along with craft vendors, bounce house/ water slide. At 6:30 p.m., the parade will line up at the Southern High School with the parade leaving off at 7 p.m.. There will be prizes awarded by RACO. The parade route will change from years past. The route will be from the high school down Third Street and turn at the Home National Bank and proceed down Fifth Street to Star Mill Park. From 7-9 p.m. Kona Ice and Easy Squeezy Lemonade will be at Star Mill Park and there will be a Frog Jump after the parade. The Racine Volunteer Fire Department will close out the evening with fireworks starting at 10 p.m.

The Village of Middleport
Middleport will hold their activities on July 4, 2023 starting at 5:30 p.m. with parade line up at the the old Dairy Queen, with the parade starting at 6 p.m. The route will go down through town to Main Street turn and come back to the “T” where the American Legion Feeney Bennett Post 128 will raise the American Flag with the Meigs High School Marching Band playing the National Anthem. There will be food and activities on North Second Street between Kings Ace Hardware and Walnut Street. The Poverty String Band Trio will also be playing near Kings Ace Hardware. The night will close out with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. at the Dave Diles Park.
