Johnnie W. Meeks

Johnnie W. Meeks, 76, Rutland, passed away Tuesday July 18, 2023, in Hickory Creek,

The Plains, Ohio.

     Born July 24, 1946, in Athens, he was the son of the late Johnnie and Thelma French

Meeks.  he was a retired truck driver, and former Athens County Deputy Sheriff, and

Albany Marshall; was a former member of the Richland Area Volunteer Fire Department,

and Albany Area Volunteer Fire Department; a member of the former Athens County 

Sheriffs Mounted Posse.  He is a member of The Big Bend Antique Tractor Club and

an avid antique tractor puller.

     He is survived by his wife Kathy Dunfee Meeks, children Johnnie (Jennifer) of Nelsonville,

Patty Lyn (Randy) of Grove City, James (Tara) of Coolville, Katie (Andy) of Albany, Amy of Athens and 

Andrew of Athens; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, whom he dearly loved all and had

his own special nick name for each one; and a sister Florence Grueser

of Shade, Ohio.

       In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother Robert Meeks.

There will be a gathering for family and friends on Friday 6-8 P.M. at Bigony-Jordan Funeral Home,
