Ronald Ray Campbell, 70, of Gallipolis, Ohio, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024.  He was born at home in Ohio Township, Gallia County, on May 18, 1954, to the late Lawrence Edward (Simon) Campbell and Lillie Mae (Swain) Campbell. 

He was a 1973 graduate of Hannan Trace High School. He was a member of the Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18, the United Mine Workers out of Charleston, WV, Bulaville Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge of Gallipolis, and a lifelong member of the NRA.

He worked at Crown City Mining in Crown City, Ohio; Mack Energy in Mason, WV; Belville Construction Company in Waterloo, Ohio; VFL Technology at the Gavin Plant in Cheshire, Ohio; among several other places. He was an accomplished diesel mechanic and it was his life.  When he was finished working during the day, he spent his evenings working at his beloved farm on Cora Mill Road.

He is survived by his wife Anita Campbell; daughters Staci (Adam) McDaniel of Pomeroy, Ohio and Lisa (Malachy) Gagnon of Havelock, North Carolina; and step-son Jon (Angela) Mason of Westerville, Ohio; grandchildren Brennan Gagnon, Gus and Norah McDaniel, and Hadley, Harper and Hazel Mason. Sister Karen Campbell of Gallipolis, Ohio. And several special nieces and nephews. 

Preceded in death by his parents; brothers Richard and Charles Campbell; sisters Ruth Ann Campbell Martin and Jenny Caldwell; and special friend Roy Sibley.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 11am at the Waugh-Halley-Wood Funeral Home in Gallipolis, Ohio, with Pastor Bob Hood officiating. Burial will follow at the Mound Hill Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 6 – 8:00pm at the funeral home.
