More about the presentation:
Dunmore’s War includes the October 10th Battle of Point Pleasant, Chief Logan’s Speech beneath the boughs of the great spreading elm near Circleville, the Treaty of Camp Charlotte on the border of Hocking and Pickaway counties, and the Fort Gower Resolves. Some academics argue that the Fort Gower Resolvers were the first American declaration of independence. It was printed in the Virginia Gazette on December 10, 1774 and was read by Thomas Jefferson. It was a part of his thinking over the next 18 months when he penned his version of the Declaration of Independence.
Tecumseh’s father was killed at the battle of Point Pleasant. Some of the officers in Dunmore’s Army included Daniel Morgan, George Rogers Clark, Colonel Crawford, Simon Kenton, and Ebenezer Zane. They were unknown at the time but gained their claim to fame in the Revolutionary War a few years later. Today there are places in Ohio named after the people in this forgotten story – Logan, Ohio – Kenton, Ohio – Zanesville, Ohio – Morgan County, Ohio – Crawford County, Ohio – Clark County, Ohio
