Cody Rhodes Has Been Absent from WWE TV
Cody Rhodes regained the Undisputed WWE Championship from John Cena on night two of SummerSlam in New Jersey. Despite this, he hasn’t appeared on WWE television for several weeks, after Drew McIntyre took him out with a Claymore on the SmackDown following SummerSlam. Many fans expected this to lead to a match at WWE Clash In Paris, but Rhodes remains absent and isn’t scheduled for the event.
Recently, McIntyre appeared on the Huge Pop podcast with Donnie Dasilva and former WWE referee Jimmy Korderas. During the interview, the Scottish Psychopath explained why he attacked Cody Rhodes, confirming that he was targeting the WWE Championship.
“Back on SmackDown, where it’s a WWE Championship… The title I helped during the pandemic the entire time, the title I won… The guy that’s got…. It’s the one I want to beat for Cody Rhodes. 20-year, you know, relationship with him and I, former tag team champions as kids… Former chosen ones, I guess… For the future, John chosen ones had to choose ourselves. But different destinations we’re at right now, where I open my eyes to the truth about so many things that he’s so desperate to be like, so desperate for attention,” McIntyre said.
He added, “I wonder if they want to take the title off him… And teach him the hard way the reality of the wrestling world, the reality of the world, because he’s still in the mindset I was in 2020. So I’m excited possibly getting my hands on him.”
Rhodes is also reportedly cast as Guile in the upcoming Street Fighter film, which could prolong his absence from WWE television. His return date to WWE TV remains unknown.
