Morehead City, NC — Eastern North Carolina is set for one more tranquil, cool weekend before a turn toward unsettled weather early next week.

Meteorologists at the National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City expect Saturday and Sunday to stay dry with temperatures close to late-October norms. After that, a series of systems is poised to move in, bringing rounds of rain and periods of gusty winds through much of the upcoming week.

Forecasters note that a coastal low featuring multiple centers may form near the shoreline early in the week, followed by a stronger frontal boundary advancing from the west later on. By Tuesday, the chance of rain climbs to about 40–50%, with the highest odds along the coast from Rodanthe down to Jacksonville.

Even with the active pattern, the current outlook keeps Halloween mainly dry, offering a well-timed break for trick-or-treaters.

Residents should continue to check for forecast updates as the timing and strength of these systems become more certain.
