Cleveland, OH — Northern and central Ohio are bracing for the coldest night so far this season, with subfreezing air settling in after midnight.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Freeze Warning from midnight through 8 a.m. Sunday for Ashland, Crawford, Knox, Marion, Morrow, Richland, Holmes, Mahoning, Stark, and Wayne counties.

Temperatures are expected to plunge to around 29°F in rural and sheltered spots, with many locations hovering near the freezing mark. Frost and freeze conditions could harm late-season crops and tender plants, and exposed outdoor plumbing may be susceptible to damage.

How to prepare:
– Bring potted plants indoors or cover garden beds with breathable fabric.
– Disconnect and drain garden hoses; insulate or cover outdoor faucets and spigots.

After a frosty start, Sunday will feature mostly sunny skies and a slow warmup. Another cool night may follow before a more noticeable rebound arrives early next week.
