Chicago, IL — After a run of chilly mornings, northern Illinois is poised for classic autumn weather this weekend, with rainfall chances creeping back in early next week.

The National Weather Service Chicago expects a bright, dry Sunday featuring light winds and afternoon highs ranging from 57°F to 63°F. By Sunday night, temperatures should settle into the upper 30s to mid-40s, with cooler readings more likely away from Lake Michigan.

Monday keeps the pleasant trend going: mostly sunny skies and highs near 60°F will make for another mild day.

A fast-moving system is then projected to boost rain odds to around 30–50% on Tuesday, especially during the afternoon and evening.

By Wednesday, a modest cool-down arrives, with highs in the low to mid-50s and lingering clouds. A stray shower cannot be ruled out.

Forecasters emphasize that this pattern is typical for late October and no severe weather is expected. Residents should check local updates as the midweek front approaches.
