Will County, IL — Expect changes on Interstate 80 in Joliet this weekend as the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) advances construction between Ridge Road and U.S. 30.
IDOT says overnight lane and ramp closures will begin Saturday night, Oct. 25, and continue into Sunday morning, Oct. 26. The traffic shift is part of the broader I-80 improvement effort aimed at upgrading bridges, ramps, and pavement throughout Will County.
Drivers should anticipate reduced speeds, shifting lanes, and possible delays during the overnight work. Detour routes will be posted, and motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, leave extra time, or choose alternate routes while crews are on site.
Weather permitting, all lanes are expected to reopen by Sunday morning. However, intermittent closures may occur later in the week as construction progresses.
Travel tips during the work:
– Watch for posted signs and follow detour markings
– Slow down in work zones and give crews room to operate
– Allow additional travel time or consider alternate routes
