A man who survived being shot numerous times by his ex-girlfriend says he feels at peace now that justice has been served.

Alexys Pinto was sentenced to ten years in prison for shooting her ex-boyfriend, Elvis Muñoz, during a violent attack last September.

Muñoz claimed Pinto shot him so many times that the gun ran out of ammo. He survived after undergoing several surgeries to heal injuries to his lungs, intestines, and hands.

“You’re willing to take care of someone and love them so much for three years, and for them to pay you with bullets and try to take your life,” Muñoz said in an earlier interview with KHOU 11.

He claimed the incident occurred in a forested area near Highway 288 and Airport Boulevard, where Pinto reportedly lured him with the promise of watching the sunset before starting a fire.

After the shooting, Muñoz persuaded her to seek help. Pinto finally took him to a nearby gas station, where they dispatched emergency responders.

Muñoz and his family are relieved by Pinto’s sentencing, which came months later.

Muñoz, a former mechanic, is recovering from his injuries. He told KHOU 11’s Anayeli Ruiz that knowing Pinto will spend the next decade in jail helps him move ahead.
