A Morgan County man detained with more than an ounce and a half of methamphetamine during a Cooper County traffic stop pleads guilty.

Lowell Porter of Stover and his girlfriend, Jennifer Dryer of Stover, were arrested in April after a police officer discovered their vehicle in a Boonville convenience store parking lot with an expired registration. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and observed that Porter lied multiple times and appeared apprehensive, so a K9 officer was requested.

The K9 showed that narcotics were present in the car. A search revealed a digital scale with white residue in the central console. Dryer then removed a sack from her jeans containing more than 49 grams of methamphetamine. Dryer allegedly admitted to buying methamphetamine in Columbia and attempting to deliver it to someone in Stover.

Porter pleaded guilty on Monday to second-degree narcotics trafficking. In exchange for his plea, charges of forgery and unauthorized possession of drug paraphernalia were dropped. He will be sentenced on January 26, 2026.

The dryer is scheduled for a trial setup on January 12, 2026.
